Nezasaha Ohneha Kinpu-ryu Shakuhachi, or just Kinpu-ryu for short, is a unique school of shakuhachi native to the Tsugaru region of Japan, in the modern day city of Hirosaki. It is characterized especially by a breathing technique called komibuki, which has taken various shapes, often quite different from the original, in other areas of Japan as well as in Europe, Australia, the U.S., and other locations. The primary aim of this website is to provide materials for those interested in Kinpu-ryu shakuhachi, so that they can get a taste of both the historical and present conditions/characteristics of the school, especially as it exists in Hirosaki, Japan.
